John Sturrock – John is responsible to disciple, lead and build the ministry of South Spring Youth (6th-12th grade). Here, youth ministry is the equipping of youth and the ministry they accomplish, not merely the entertainment of teens.
Hello, I am John Sturrock (otherwise known as the “the other John” but I prefer to be called John 2 . 0), I have the privilege of getting to serve as the Student Minister here at South Spring Baptist Church! One of the many perks of being able to work at South Spring is that I get to work alongside my father who is the Associate Pastor of Engagement, I recall having
the desire to one day work alongside him as a child and now I get to live that out every day!
While in college I witnessed many of my peers who grew up in the church, and grew up in Christian families but did not have a passion for Christ not make Christ a priority for themselves once leaving their student ministry; and that made me realize the importance of teaching and training students to realize their need for Christ and having a personal relationship with Him andI wanted to be a part of that!
As a Student Minister I get to do what I am passionate about; which is helping students grow in their understanding and passion for the Lord, to help them know and be obedient to the commands and promises found in Scripture and to be able to apply them to their personal lives!
I was a part of many different ministry teams in Arkansas, South Dakota, and Oklahoma before joining the staff at South Spring in late March of 2017; I could not be more excited to be a part of what God is doing here in East Texas and I am looking forward to seeing how He continues to work and move in the lives of students here at South Spring!
