Tricia Slicker

Women's Minister

Hello! I am truly humbled and excited to serve as the Women’s Minister at South Spring Baptist Church.

My heart for ministry has been shaped by the way Jesus meets us right in the middle of real life (in the messy, joyful, painful, and in-between seasons) and faithfully brings healing, growth, and transformation. I believe discipleship is a lifelong journey of learning who God is, allowing Him to shape us, and walking alongside one another as we grow in our faith.

I have the distinct pleasure of being the wife of Max Slicker, and between us, we’re raising five kids: four teenagers and a preteen. I also carry the honor of being Ben’s widow, a part of my story that has deeply shaped my faith and my calling.

I grew up in a military family rooted in faith and church life, married a soldier, and walked through years of moving, infertility, miscarriage, and eventually the joy of welcoming three children. After losing Ben to brain cancer in 2017, my kids and I moved from Ohio to Texas for a fresh season of healing, faith, and learning to chase joy again.

In 2023, God, through His great providence (and a Christian dating app), brought Max into our lives. We married in 2025, stepping into blended family life and learning daily what it looks like to trust God together.

Though I hold a doctorate in education and was teaching graduate students, God stirred something deeper in my heart for women’s ministry, leading me to seminary in 2023. I’ll complete my Master’s in Theology in May 2026.

Walking through loss, remarriage, and blended family life has shaped my reliance on God’s grace and my desire to walk alongside others with empathy, honesty, and hope. I’m passionate about helping women grow in Christ and empowering them to influence the next generation with confidence and faith.

Outside of ministry, you’ll usually find me with my family.  My husband and I are leaning on God as we learn to navigate life together with four teenagers and a preteen, which means there’s never a dull (or quiet) moment. We enjoy traveling to new places as a family whenever we can. We love board games and meaningful conversations around the table, making memories as a family. I am also an avid reader, so I’m always looking for books to read to hit my goal of reading 100 books a year!

I believe some of life’s greatest joys are found in the everyday moments, and I hope to share some of those moments with the ladies of South Spring!  I can’t wait to hear your story!
