Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.  – Philippians 2:5-7

  • We learned yesterday that the Easter holiday – and everything about Jesus – has to do with new life, just like springtime. Unfortunately, for many families, Easter is just another day to devour a big meal, visit with relatives, hunt for eggs, and eat sweets.
  • Ask: What is your favorite thing to do on Easter Sunday?
  • While there’s nothing wrong with once a year Easter celebrations, we never want to forget that it’s really all about the new life that Jesus wants to bring to everyone all during the year.
  • In John 10:10 Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
  • As we will see on Sunday, after Jesus took our punishment on the cross and died, He rose from the dead, showing everyone that His life had defeated death.
  • We celebrate the Resurrection because it’s through His victory over death that we can have life forever (eternal life) in heaven with Him. When we invite Jesus to take over our lives, He gives us new life.
  • Read 2 Corinthians 5:17 What does this tell us happens to a person who is “in Christ”?
  • Review today’s memory verse together, Philippians 2:5-7
  • Close your time in prayer.
  • For TEENS and OLDER KIDS: Read 1 Corinthians 15:12-20 and ask, “According to this passage, what would it mean if Easter were just a fairy tale and Christ did not actually rise from the grave? Why would this be?
