“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a crossTherefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”  – Philippians 2:5-11

  • Tomorrow we celebrate Christ’s Resurrection! We have been learning this week how His life and death and resurrection are all the greatest news in the world for us!
  • Jesus made a way for us to be reconciled (brought back into a right relationship) with God forever, and He offers this to us as a free gift (see Ephesians 2:8-9).
  • There is a wonderful description in Ezekiel 36:26 of what God will do for anyone who trusts in Jesus as their sinless substitute: I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
  • Overall this means we can receive a new heart that helps us to love God and love others. His Spirit changes us from the inside out by changing our hearts.
  • Discuss together…
  • How do you think a new heart changes the way you love God?
  • How do you think a new heart changes the way you love others?
  • How important is it to remember that God’s Spirit in you will always have the strength to obey Him and will never run out of love for people? (even brothers and sisters!)
  • Review today’s memory verse together, Philippians 2:5-11.
  • Close your time in prayer, thanking God for the new life He offers to us through Jes
