“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!” – Psalm 100:1

  • SAY: To prepare for Thanksgiving, our devotional time is simply going to be praying through the acronym A.C.T.S., which stands for Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication.

Adoration

  • Adoration is where we praise God for who He is what He can do.
  • Who can read Psalm 100 for us?
  • Let’s go around and have everyone share one attribute about God that they love the most (i.e., God is loving, all-powerful, all-knowing, etc.) and then pray together, giving each person a chance to praise God out loud for the attribute they chose.
  • Psalm 69:30 says, “I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.” Take a moment to sing a song of praise together. For example…

The Doxology: “Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him all creatures here below. Praise Him above ye heavenly host. Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost”

I Love You Lord: “I love You Lord, and I lift my voice to worship You. O my soul, rejoice. Take joy, my King in what You hear. May it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear”

Confession

  • Confession is admitting our sins to God, repenting, and receiving God’s forgiveness
  • Can someone pleas read Psalm 51:1-4?
  • In this Psalm, does David seem more concerned that he got caught or that he had sinned against God?
  • Let’s pray again, but this time pray silently, asking God to forgive your sins and to turn your heart towards obedience.

Thanksgiving

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says we are to “Give thanks in all circumstances.”
  • Let’s have everyone share what they are most thankful for in their life right now.
  • Pray out loud together, having everyone express thanksgiving in their own words.

Supplication

  • God wants us to present our requests to Him (Phil 3:6) and to pray for each other (James 5:16).
  • Everyone share one thing they would like prayer for, whether it’s something for you personally or for something else
  • Let’s close our time by praying for each other (ex: everyone pray for the family member on your right).
