Welcome! You’re likely here to learn the process to officially join South Spring Baptist Church as a member. We call this our Welcome Home Process.
For many, church membership is a new concept and perhaps a little confusing. If this is you, think relationships. God made us to live and spiritually grow in community with one another. To join SSBC is to say, “I am accepting the invitation to be all-in with the church’s mission.” This concept of community is implied throughout the Bible.
One of the places in the Bible that references this practice is in the book of Acts:
So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
As a local body of The Church, we can best live out our faith when we are all moving in a unified manner. The fourth chapter of Ephesians, specifically verse three, references this concept. It says, “eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” (ESV).
We have found that the following relational steps have been helpful for newer people to feel like they are a part of community and to engage in God’s ministry through our particular church.
Please start by watching our four orientation videos. These videos describe what we believe, our processes and why we exist. They also discuss how being a follower of Jesus Christ is essential in church membership. This includes professing our faith by way of believer’s baptism.
Also, this sermon on our Pillars pulls together our cultural practice of how we live out our Christian faith. These resources will provide insight into who we are and what we believe our purpose to be as a Christian church.

Then, schedule a time to visit with Lance Sturrock. The purpose of this relational step is to provide you with an opportunity to ask any questions about the church, its processes or how to get involved in the life of the church ministries. We also appreciate an opportunity to hear about your faith journey and what the Lord is using to bring you to SSBC.

The final step is also relational, and that is to be introduced to the church at the end of a worship service. In accordance with our by-laws, this step constitutes an official invitation to South Spring Baptist Church by vote.
By completing the steps of our “Welcome Home” process, you officially join our local body of believers and our mission together to glorify Jesus Christ. We are grateful to have you.
