Who’s My Neighbor is a church-wide day of serving our neighbors with practical acts of love. It’s an opportunity for every South Spring Life Group to step into the community, meet practical needs, build relationships, and point people to Christ through simple acts of service.

Why We Do This:

“We love because He first loved us.” — 1 John 4:19

“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” — 1 John 3:18

Jesus calls us to love our neighbors not only with our words, but through our actions.

How It Works:

1.  PRAY for opportunities to pray with people around you and have spiritual conversations everywhere you go!

2.  MEET your neighbors – Get to know people that live around you! 

3.  LOOK for a Neighbor to Serve – Each Life Group identifies a neighbor or family that lives near someone in your group.

• Plan Your Project – Choose a project your group can accomplish together—yard work, painting, repairs, moving help, cleanup, and more.

4.  SERVE Together as a Life Group in Jesus Name – Meet at South Spring for a brief rally before heading out into neighborhoods across our city to serve.

• Love Your Neighbors Well – Build relationships, pray with people when appropriate, and let your actions reflect the love of Jesus. Commit to pray for and personally connect with those you serve.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Who participates? – Every South Spring Life Group and any family members who are able to come and support.

Will there be children’s acctivities? No children’s programming is planned.

What if we don’t know who to serve? Your Life group’s first step is to pray and go! Go meet your neighbors and ask God to show you who has needs. Ask your neighbors questions. If all else fails, your Who’s My Neighbor group representative can work with church staff to identify opportunities.

Does the church provide supplies? The church provides planning resources and guidance. We recommend the home owner provide supplies if they are able. Individual groups may purchase supplies as needed if possible. We DO have a limited church budget to purchase supplies if those two options become too much for the home owner or the group.

Can I participate if I’m not in a Life Group? Yes! Contact us NOW and we’ll connect you with a group serving that day, or you can rally some church friends to plan a project.

Can we go ahead and start now and complete a project? Not recommended, but if you have an urgent need, go for it! But remember, our hope with Who’s My Neighbor is for EVERYONE in your group to have time to get to know their neighbors, pray with some of them and have spiritual conversations. If you act too quickly, just because you find a potential serving opportunity, others in the group may not do this CRITICAL step. Also, it will be so fun to gather together on October 17th and go out as one church to serve our neighbors!

Can we continue doing this after? Yes, absolutely! Serve away! We hope this opens doors to more people coming to know Jesus!
